Results from new study offer hope for women with endometriosis
FTWW is pleased to see the positive outcome of this study that was published by the BSGE endometriosis centres project yesterday. It reiterates the changes needed that we are proposing to Welsh Government, and will make our case even stronger. A promising step in the right direction for endometriosis patients in the UK, and for the future of endo care here. FTWW was absolutely delighted with BBC Radio Wales’s 30 minute documentary on Endometriosis, broadcast on the 7th March 2018, as part of its ‘Eye On Wales’ series. Journalist, Selma Chalabi, collaborated with us on the programme and very much did the issues justice, incorporating personal stories, expert opinions, and our work in a compelling and engaging way. Urgent Survey for Endometriosis Patients in the UK
Endometriosis patients throughout the UK – and that includes those WITH and WITHOUT an official diagnosis – your input is required, as a matter of urgency! As you know, FTWW has been instrumental in the setting-up of a Task & Finish group to redesign strategy for prospective / existing endo patients across Wales. Part of this has involved Cardiff University working with us to compile an evidence base to support the recommendations we are making to Welsh Government. FTWW members from across Wales were proud and excited to be involved in a new and exciting method of collecting evidence around their experiences of endometriosis this week – a workshop using arts and comics to ‘draw out’ their personal stories, with the ultimate aim of producing an informative booklet to help increase awareness about the condition. We Have 500 Members!
It is with great pleasure (tinged with a little sorrow) that we can announce that FTWW: Fair Treatment for the Women of Wales has reached a significant milestone in its relatively short (but highly productive!) existence – over 500 members of the organisation’s online support group! FTWW remains the ONLY Wales-based, patient-led, third sector organisation entirely focused upon girls’ / women’s health equality throughout the region. FTWW Contributes to Endometriosis Priority Setting Workshop
This week, FTWW was pleased to be invited to participate in the final ‘Endometriosis Priority Setting Workshop’ in London, facilitated by the James Lind Alliance. The JLA was originally created to redress the imbalance between scientific, pharmaceutical, and academic research/ers and the needs / interests / priorities of actual patients, carers, and practitioners. It was also set up to help combat some of the conflicts of interest encountered when all clinical research is designed and implemented by pharmaceutical companies.
