Today marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness Week. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the AMs who took part in the Pregnancy and Baby Loss debate in The Senedd, last Wednesday. Also to Lynne Neagle, Adam Price, and David Rees AMs, for putting the topic forward for debate. Special thanks to Lynne Neagle, and Caroline Jones AMs for raising the issues that exist with miscarriage care in Wales, and to all the AMs who referenced the problems raised in our report. Caroline Jones urged Health Minister Vaughan Gething to support the recommendations made in our…
We are absolutely thrilled to announce, that our founder, and CEO Debbie has made it on to the Amnesty International Suffragette Spirit map for International Women’s Day 2018. She has been recognised as a human rights defender, due to her work campaigning for better healthcare for women in Wales. Congratulations Debbie, and thanks for all you do, very well deserved! “Who is making history today? 100 years ago British women finally won the right to vote.* The incredible work of the suffragettes – ordinary women who stopped at nothing to get their voices heard – paved the way for a…
FTWW was absolutely delighted with BBC Radio Wales’s 30 minute documentary on Endometriosis, broadcast on the 7th March 2018, as part of its ‘Eye On Wales’ series. Journalist, Selma Chalabi, collaborated with us on the programme and very much did the issues justice, incorporating personal stories, expert opinions, and our work in a compelling and engaging way. Thank you, Selma – we can safely say that we were proud to be involved in the project and hope to work with you again in the future! Thanks to those that participated and bravely shared their stories. As far as endometriosis goes,…
‘Building support for a difficult or sensitive cause’ FTWW has featured on this month’s blog by all-Wales fundraising charity, Localgiving.com, entitled, ‘Building Support for a Difficult or Sensitive Cause’… I am sure you’d agree that it’s wonderful to see such recognition for our members’ efforts, as well as a great opportunity to raise awareness of the organisation and our work. Thanks, ladies – great job, and thanks to the team at Localgiving for your support! https://blog.localgiving.org/blogs/67/277/building-support-for-a-difficult
FTWW & Cardiff University Work Together to Illustrate Symptoms of Endometriosis – 3o, January 2018. FTWW members from across Wales were proud and excited to be involved in a new and exciting method of collecting evidence around their experiences of endometriosis this week – a workshop using arts and comics to ‘draw out’ their personal stories, with the ultimate aim of producing an informative booklet to help increase awareness about the condition. As part of Welsh Government’s Task & Finish Group for Endometriosis, we have been working closely with representatives of Cardiff University School of Psychology, to fully gauge and represent the patient…
It is with great pleasure (tinged with a little sorrow) that we can announce that FTWW: Fair Treatment for the Women of Wales has reached a significant milestone in its relatively short (but highly productive!) existence – over 500 members of the organisation’s online support group! FTWW remains the ONLY Wales-based, patient-led, third sector organisation entirely focused upon girls’ / women’s health equality throughout the region. Despite having NO formal sources of funds, other than the kind donations of supporters, we’re proud to see this group continuing to grow: proud and a little sad that so many women require our…
