We owe a huge amount of appreciation to WalesOnline for working with us during Endometriosis Awareness Month, March 2016.
Journalist, Victoria Jones, published two fantastic, myth-busting articles on the topic, featuring a number of our members, and raising an enormous amount of awareness. FTWW would like to extend its gratitude to her for her hard work and support.
One of our members, Helen Owen, had her story published on WalesOnline on the 9th March: both FTWW and Helen herself have been overwhelmed at the amount of attention her story has received, with the WalesOnline article so far being shared over 2000 times, and FTWW attracting numerous new members to its Facebook Group in the days following publication.
On the 20th March another fantastic – and moving – article was released, “These women all suffer from an extremely painful disease but have had to fight to be properly treated”. This told the stories of many endometriosis sufferers across Wales, including several of our FTWW members. Once again we are delighted to report that this article has attracted a similarly positive response. As we write this, a mere 3 days after its publication, it has been shared over 1400 times, and increased the size of FTWW’s online support group by 25%!
FTWW hopes that prominent, well-received awareness campaigns such as this one, along with a continued focus on lobbying will eventually result in improvements for the women in Wales who are living with endometriosis.
