We are delighted to announce that due to the growth of the charity, FTWW is recruiting for up to four board member positions to help us to continue to drive change and make a difference. If, like us, you want to see a Wales where everybody’s right to good health and wellbeing is respected and fulfilled, with everyone able to access the healthcare they need, when they need it, and without barriers, we’d love to hear from you!

As a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) we are committed to the majority of our Board and members identifying as disabled or living with a long-term / recurrent health condition.

We also want to make our Board more diverse and representative of the population and map of Wales, and want to focus in this recruitment process on having more Board members who are:
• Black or have Asian or minority ethnic heritage
• Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning
• Younger (under 30) or older (over 65)
and /or
• Welsh speakers
Please be assured that if you don’t meet the above criteria in any way, we still want to hear from you!

You’ll need to commit to around 5 hours a month and we have 4 regular online meetings a year, but there may also be extra requirements as issues or opportunities arise. There may also be media or other speaking opportunities.

We support our Board members to carry out their role, including sourcing/funding appropriate training and development opportunities. We will ensure any Board member who speaks on behalf of FTWW is trained and supported to carry out that role confidently.

We currently only have two, part-time paid members of staff and rely a lot on our volunteers and Board members to both help us deliver as an organisation and support us to grow our capacity and influence – so, as well as the skills and expertise listed in our recruitment pack, we’re looking for enthusiasm, commitment, and a hands-on attitude.

If you are interested in joining us in our exciting mission, please read the Board Recruitment Pack (which includes details on how to apply), and the role descriptions attached at the bottom of this page. You’ll also find our strategic infographic below, which gives an overview of the direction we are aiming for over the next three years.

The closing date for applications is Friday 16th December 2022.

We look forward to hearing from you!
